Monthly Club Meeting
March 2nd, 2011
7:00pm
Grantham Town Hall

In 1974, a handful of people interested in snowmobiling as an outdoor activity and a passion came together to form the Blue Mountain Snowdusters club. They started the club in the local community in an effort to distinguish it from other similar clubs by introducing their own ideas and practices.

With many other clubs in the state, the Blue Mountain Snowdusters decided to include cross-country skiers and not only snowmobile enthusiasts. Their idea was to make the outdoor trail system known to as many people as possible, and help them enjoy it as much as the founding members of the club.

The trails in the area provide a variety of uses apart from snowmobiling and skiing; they can be used for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking or snow shoeing and there are many that can take advantage of them. As a result, the Snowdusters have been working on promoting and conserving them, in order to maintain a healthy, safe and prosperous community. In this purpose, the BMSD have also founded the Grantham Old Home Day and have helped as much as possible by making donations to the Easter Seals every year for the past 25 years The original founders have sustained the expansion of their community to integrate all new comers that shared their ideals and were passionate about what they were trying to achieve. The Blue Mountain Snowdusters Outdoor Recreation Club became a second home for those concerned with preserving their trail system, by inviting anyone interested to work on and support their cause. With hard work and the contribution of other individuals as well, the Snowdusters wanted to achieve a goal of securing their outdoor trail system for many generations to come.

All the club members play a vital role in maintaining the equilibrium of the outdoor trails and the warm-up huts owned by the Blue Mountain Snowdusters. They are the ones that build, paint, clean and provide firewood for the huts and raise awareness about the dos and don’ts regarding the trail system.
