Dear Sno-Traveler: It’s been quite some
time since the last update from the Blue Mountain Snowdusters in Grantham
and we apologize for the long hiatus. Though our Club has not been writing
in, we have certainly had a lot going on in our area and our volunteers
have been extremely busy. Many trail improvements have been made and our
grooming fleet has been upgraded. The latest addition to our fleet is a
1989 Tucker 2000. Hopefully, by the time you read this, you have already
witnessed the positive effect of this investment on our trail system.
We’ve had a great response to our financial pleas and would like
to thank the many contributors for their generosity. We do still have a
significant amount of debt from this purchase, so a donation in any amount
would be greatly appreciated. You can see a picture of the Tucker on our
website at www.bluemountainsnowdusters.com I do have a bit of
unfortunate news to report. The section of Corridor 5 that travels through
the former Sugar Springs Farm is currently closed due to a disagreement
between the Town of Grantham and landowner Douglas P. Webb, Jr, which you
may have already read about in the newspapers. This will also cause the
Hartshorn Road trail to dead end at the Exit 13 Mobil (soon to be Irving).
Now the good news: thanks to the cooperation and support of landowners
(United Construction, the State of NH, William Newhall, Kenneth H. Barton,
and Joyce Barton), an alternate route has been constructed. Please watch
for the trail changes between the Corbin Park Fence Road and the Route 10
crossing, just south of downtown Grantham. We will hold our 12th
Annual Radar Run at Stocker Pond in Grantham on Saturday, February 18th
from 10am to 3 pm. We plan to have an ice track and a snow covered track
to choose from. There will be food and drink available, and don’t miss
out on the great raffle prizes and 50/50. Come on out for day of fast
machines and family fun! As a reminder, our monthly club meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm and all are welcome to attend. We encourage all to get involved to help your Club and trail system prosper. There would be no trail system without the hard work and dedication of the volunteers. Beginning on February 7th, our meetings will be held at Sugar River Savings Bank in Grantham. We thank Terry Beaulieu and the Bank for allowing us to use the space at no charge. This will continue until space becomes available at Grantham’s new Municipal Building. |
